Members of Arbor Vitae can benefit from the use of our on-line services that will support them in their work with the pharmaceutical industry.

Arbor Vitae Partnerships:

This is a unique tool that combines our understanding of the physicians needs with the power of an interactive web-based system to help you critically consider and plan the activities you undertake with Industry. Importantly, it allows you to record your appraisal of each activity which in turn can be demonstrated in your own appraisal by your employer or peers.

We designed this tool with the help of our course delegates. Over the past three years they have fedback to us about their need for ongoing support in working with Industry in a more transparent and effective way. We have amalgamated this feedback with our own experiences to develop this self-appraisal tool which we hope will become the gold standard to ensure quality and probity in dealing with Industry.

The Partnerships tool allows you to:

  • Learn and understand what is being asked of you for a particular activity
  • In a step by step manner, self-assess your competence, and informed willingness, to undertake the proposed activity
  • Document and archive all activities that you undertake with pharmaceutical companies on your own personalised web-based database
  • Demonstrate transparency and probity in your interactions with Industry as required by your employers, peers and professional bodies
  • Align the range of activities that you undertake with Industry with your professional development plans

Personal Training Curriculum:

We have adapted the materials that we have been successfully using in our Workshops over the past three years to provide an on-line training curriculum for members. Our curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, ranging from a broad introduction to the pharmaceutical industry, to specific training on any given activity that may be commonly undertaken with a company e.g. presenting at a company sponsored meeting or attending a company Advisory Board.

Our materials are currently available to Members for viewing and downloading in a power point format.

Discussion Blog:

To the best of our knowledge, no national forum exists for physicians who wish to discuss and share best practice for working with the pharmaceutical industry. Many of the challenges and dilemmas members face are common, and will benefit from peer discussion to establish consensus on the most appropriate professional response. This discussion forum will foster debate, create a list of the most common problems and the membership's suggested solutions.

We hope that the Discussion Blog will guide us in expanding our training curriculum and updating our Parterships tool going forward. We will be introducing a series of exciting new on-line tools during 2007-2008
